3 NOVEMBER 2022

Kitchener, ON — The Federation of Canadian Secondary Students / Fédération des élèves du secondaire au Canada is excited to share that it has been recently awarded a $10,000 Ted Rogers Community Grant.

The funding from Rogers will be used to develop a course seeking to empower Canadian secondary students to make grassroots change in their schools, school boards, or local communities. Participants will be provided with modules and workshops on academic research, awareness of social issues, policy writing, and preparing a project proposal. Finalists will be invited to a Young Policy Leaders Conference tentatively scheduled for March 2023 where they will have an opportunity to present their ideas and recommendations to a panel of education stakeholders.

Bruce Yu, Executive Director said: “We would like to thank Rogers for their generosity and commitment to empowering the next generation of young leaders. This grant will allow us to engage youth in becoming active stakeholders in their education.”
