Volunteer.
From secondary students to career professionals, we’re grateful that you want to volunteer time with us!
The Federation of Canadian Secondary Students / Fédération des élèves du secondaire au Canada (FCSS-FESC) is a volunteer-run organization. From our high school student Executive to the members of our Board of Directors and Board of Advisors, we rely on volunteers to sustain our operations. We welcome volunteers with all backgrounds and skillsets as we work to advance the state of public education in Canada.
Volunteer positions are regularly updated so if you don’t see something for you, please check back later! You can also contact us directly and we’ll try to match your skills to one of our existing programs or projects.
Executive
The Executive team is entirely comprised of secondary school students from across Canada. Led by the College of Chief Officers, the Executive manages the FCSS-FESC portfolio of programs and projects, from day-to-day finances to program design, development, and delivery. Our Executive team is comprised of secondary students from grades 9 through 13 in schools across Canada.
We are not accepting applications for the Executive at this time.
Council of Advisors
The Council of Advisors provides operational guidance and mentorship to the Executive in areas complementary and relevant to the work of the FCSS-FESC. Advisors bring a wealth of professional knowledge and expertise from areas such as law, accounting, program development, service delivery, organizational governance, leadership, and everything in between.
We are not accepting applications for the Council of Advisors at this time.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors sets the long-term strategic direction for the FCSS-FESC and oversees all legal and financial matters. The Board promotes the retention of institutional memory and fosters mentoring relationships with the current Executive team. We strive to ensure that the composition of our Board of Directors matches the diversity of those we serve.
We are accepting applications for Directors. Please send an up-to-date resume/CV to husayn.jamal@fcss-fesc.ca.
At the FCSS-FESC, we are committed to building and fostering an environment where our Members feel included, valued, and heard. Our belief is that a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion enables us to make our student advocacy work and services better for everyone. We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous Peoples, Black and other racialized people, people with disabilities, people from gender and sexually diverse communities, linguistic minorities in their respective province/territory, and/or people with intersectional identities. See Policy 2003 - Disability Accessibility and Policy 4010 - Recruitment and Hiring Practices for information on requesting accommodations.
