Elevate Mental Health Webinar

About the event.

The Elevate program is excited to be hosting a mental health webinar on Friday, March 19th from 5:30pm to 8:00pm EST. Admission is free but registration is required.

The Elevate Mental Health Webinar will bring together four world-renowned speakers for an interactive discussion about mental health.

Through this webinar, students will be given the opportunity to learn about diverse topics surrounding mental health and directly interact with mental health professionals.

If you are feeling anxious, stressed, or simply tired with staying at home and balancing your academics, our webinar will be the perfect virtual getaway for you.

Speakers.

Olivia Miller

Olivia Miller is a 19 year-old student and mental health advocate from Waterloo, Ontario. She is the co-founder and director of Bridges of Hope Project, an youth-led initiative prioritizing increased awareness of mental health and encouraging open conversations about well-being within communities. She has completed a Positive Psychology Specialization through the University of Pennsylvania and is currently completing a double major in Social Development and Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Waterloo. She has struggled personally with anxiety, OCD and depression for the majority of her life which sparked a passion in her for advocating for prioritizing mental wellness. She is a team member at The Activist Collab, a platform for young advocates to start their activism journey and a Community Ambassador at The Umbrella Project, a parenting and classroom strategy for communities to choose wellbeing. Olivia strives to continue to break stigma in her community and defy against the several systems that don't allow for well-being to be made a priority in our lives.

Shania Bhopa

Shania Bhopa is a health communicator and child-health advocate. She is a Masters of Global Health Student and a recipient of the Canada Graduate Scholarship Masters Award from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. She is the co-founder and Director of the charitable organization—The Canadian Courage Project—that strives to support homeless youth across Ontario, and promote mental well-being. Her charity has supported over 1000 homeless youth and is working to fill the gap in the education system by promoting global health challenges to primary and secondary students. Shania has a research interest in patient-physician communication, lifestyle medicine, and mental health promotion for marginalized populations. She is passionate about wellness and holistic health at a community and global level and hopes to promote the access of health services to all. Shania is currently working on publishing a children’s book to address complex health systems, in an accessible way. In her free time, she hosts a global health podcast, is a personal trainer, and indulges in content creation.

J. Paul Nadeau

J. Paul Nadeau is a motivational keynote speaker and international consultant. He specializes in conflict resolution and helping businesses discover how to negotiate for success using hostage negotiation principles and his own 4-step model.

As a highly decorated and former police detective, hostage negotiator and international peacekeeper, he spent over 30 years working with victims of crime and perpetrators, specifically in hostage and crisis negotiations, homicide investigations, interrogations, and counter terrorism. He was also a peacekeeper in Jordan, heading up an international group of trainers before becoming a counsellor to the Iraqi cadets, and survived an incursion by terrorists. Paul is Canada’s most highly recognized hostage negotiator. He is a regular guest on SiriusXM’s talk radio, and a consultant to world news networks, such as CNN, the National and CP24, for his expertise on terrorism and global hostage crisis.

Paul is also a mental health strategist and was the “Canadian Mental Health Associations” first choice as keynote speaker in 2019, and the author of best-selling book “Take Control of Your Life”. He has made it his life’s mission to guide others through the thoughts and experiences in their lives that hold them hostage, just as his had once done to him. He now speaks to thousands of people about what they can do to overcome their challenges and step into a happier and more fulfilled life. Paul is also the host of the “Inspire Us” podcast.

Anchelaa Thiru

As a Certified Life and Mindset Coach and Mental Health Advocate, Anchelaa Thiru aims to empower, inspire, guide, and support individuals on their healing journey. She teaches them how to successfully reprogram their subconscious thoughts and beliefs, self-regulate their emotions, reclaim their power, and most importantly how to live a life they are passionate about. One that is purpose-driven, free of limitations, and in divine alignment with their highest self. In addition, she is a member of the Speakers Bureau with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).
